shattering and beautiful

I finished reading the best book I've read all year today, A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra. It takes place in Chechnya, in the time of war. It is hands down the best thing I've read all year. Not only is the story good, the writing is beautiful. There are these asides, glimpses of the future and the past, that are everything I've wanted in a story. They make it so much bigger, so much more a part of the world. I will have to return it to the library, but I think I will buy a copy of it to keep with me and read again.
Working full time has slowed my reading pace. I would like working more if I wasn't so oppressed by an unrealistic timetable, my own inexperience, things I can't control from the translation and image processing teams, and finally if they were paying anywhere close to what this job is actually worth. Oh well.
