May. 21st, 2001 09:26 pmThe essay is five pages and complete. I have a cover letter, the application papers, the essay and five neatly sealed envelopes containing mysterious recommendation letters. Now I'm just waiting for the new transcript that should arrive any day. I will be relieved to mail this all off. I hope I can get some kind of scholarship with this, I need it. I need it too much.
Need to get a Windows boot disk to see if I can fix the death cycle my computer is currently engaged in. Poor computer. Something must have spiked through the surge protector and scrambled my computer's brain when the power went out last night. I discovered this morning, after nine hours without electricity, that the power lines near IBM on Burnet went crashing down. Last time I drove through there, crews were still working. It's a mess.
I worry that the weather will be like this on Saturday. Ugh. I really don't trust the physics and I don't like to fly. Basically I just want instant transport. Immediate gratification. TRaveling is nice, but I don't like the actual motion.
Deb laughed like crazy at me in the grocery store today. Here is what I bought, and the reasons for the humor are pretty obvious:
-Purell sanitizer
-pantyhose
-film
-mints
-cucumber face mask
-condoms
Oh yes. Laugh away.
No more tonight since my computer is still doomed. Sigh. I really hope this can be fixed. I'm taking a web based independent study class in the fall and I need a functional machine at home. I dream of a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop that is so far out of my grasp....
