Saint Stephen's Day: Hungary
Aug. 20th, 2001 10:34 amThis Hungarian national festival is dedicated to St. Stephen, the first king of Hungary, who converted his people to Christianity. The day is marked with a procession of Catholic Hungary's most revered possession -- a mummified hand believed to have belonged to the Saint himself. Sporting events, music, and folk dances also celebrate this day.
