Mar. 28th, 2002 02:54 pmSaw both my parents today, my father at Threadgills and my mother at work. It's easier now, a little. But still not quite right.
Drove through the Hill Country for an hour or so in the early afternoon, down roads I haven't seen in a long time, "past the places where you used to turn." SInging softly, learning the words to new songs and one very old one.
Everything else has acquired the flat edge of a Bret Easton Ellis novel. Sat beside the pool, reading, thinking of nothing. I like to swim when it's barely warm in the spring, so the water is glacial and sharp. The sun is warm, filling me up.

explain to me
Mar. 28th, 2002 04:50 pmI'm not shaving my legs for taar korma or something else appetizing. Change of plans, change of clothes. We're driving to into the wilds of middle Texas in search of a certain Mac laptop. Should be fun, and satisfy my craving for a mini road trip. So I'm listening to Liz Phair and Candlebox while I practice my overhand throw off the balcony.
Gene and I took off for the Circuit City in Killeen, and snagged a rather cheap Apple iBook. It's a cute little machine, with lights and one almosts expects to hear it breathing. Great fun, especially finding a Dairy Queen in Salado and finding ourselves in this very David Lynch-esque setting. I was waiting for the man in the gray jacket to do something weird.
