these precious illusions

Melynda and I took Gene out for a birthday dinner at Texas Land & Cattle. Lots of delicious steak and mushrooms again for me, and cheesecake. Very nice. I think he likes his presents. We dragged him to Metro for a round of cards. A pity he left before my three day winning streak was shattered.

Curled up on the couch, watching Pulp Fiction and reading. Yes, this is much better than the previous eight hours.

Hah. I'd forgotten so much of this movie, and it's so good. Hilarious. The scene where Jules and Vincent get hosed down is way more than I need to see of Travolta, but it's so damn funny.

I think I'd like to soak in the bath and read my new issue of Gourmet and fantasize about having a giant kitchen and all the time in the world to cook.
