The ice has mostly disappeared, except on the higher roads and under the trees. I confess a sense of relief though my driving is still cautious and I don't think I'll ever be so careless again in any inclement weather. Not that I am a careless driver for the most part, but I shall be more cautious. I did jump when a piece of ice fell off something over the road and smacked into the roof of my car. It was loud.
Settling down to unfreeze my fingers and watch the first disc of Lain. It's by far the msot intriguing anime series I've ever seen, and the theme song gets me hard for a reason I can't quite express. I feel a great afinity for little Lain, in her bear pajamas and with her Navi. The Wired. I wish to see the Wired.
Work ended up good, despite some of my frustrations. I'm not so great at showing my thought process on paper, writing down all the steps. This is why I never did well in higher math classes, with the endless equations running down the paper. But I ended up doing a fair amount of work for a novice, and it makes me happy to feel as if I am learning.
On Monday night, a good chunk of the night shift was stuck at the office and had to spend the night in the La Quinta Inn next door. I'm glad that wasn't me. They cancelled work yesterday, so there was a ton today. Also a couple of emails, including one that promised we would all be paid yesterday despite not being able to come in and one announcing free dinner for everyone. I had a giant baked potato with cheese and chicken and salsa. Plus a white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie. So I ate and worked, and got to come home a bit early. My paycheck was there too, and I was so overcome by the thought that I will get two of these every month.
I'm tempted to cut my hair in Lain's style, though for now I'm leaving it long to satisfy a number of whims.
Hopefully the weather will clear up a bit so I can go visit Cate at the Little House this weekend. I've signed on to be the Book Review Editor for Atomic Petals, so I need to write a bio and get a picture of myself. I'm excited about it, as I've been yearning for a chance to write in that style again for some time. I need the practice.
