D&D adventures, part II
Sep. 18th, 2003 03:00 pmLast night in our game, Father Dumas took us up into the rectory of the church in Corvus to meet Kalen. Kalen happens to be this black cat-like man from another world working for the King. In the madness of First Night and the invasion of the skeleton army, he was hurt pretty badly and he needed someone to take a message back to the King in regards to the rat people invading the sewers. While we're negotiating price and such, Meier made the huge mistake of saying, "So, how are we sure we can get in to see the King? Our noble friend's reputation isn't exactly the best and even with new clothes..." Alex stopped, failed a will save and promptly backhanded my sorceror right then and there. He was suitably pissed for the remainder of the trip. Meier recieved a lengthy lecture, complete with beating, on the importance of propriety and decorum. Most especially around strangers or in public.
So the sorceror can't ride well anyhow, and trying to read while riding through the swamp is not the best idea. Anyhow on the second day of our journey, we were attacked by a fog dragon that did some seriously unpleasant damage to several members of the party. In one bad move, they left Meier behind to round up the steward, the healer and the servants while Alex, Bob the goblin and our nameless fighter took off to track down the wounded dragon. They ran into a nasty immortal old man who dealt out some serious con damage, and the wounded dragon out there. Despite nearly dying, they eventually managed to take both of them down. So we found many gems and magical items, and had barbecued dragon for dinner. As the cook was killed by the dragon, Meier is back to kitchen duty.
I really need to put some skill points into ride, because that's twice now Meier's been unseated on a nervous horse. I'm thinking I should really be using that diplomacy check more as it's got a sizeable bonus due to my charisma. The 19+3 charisma is the only thing saving the boy most of the time.
