The best thing about cable is watching weird anime at 2am, and listening to the Sneaker Pimps. I crave more Sneaker Pimps, terribly. I want a playlist of nothing but Remy Zero, New Order and Sneaker Pimps. I could listen to this song over and over. It makes me want to dance, and there's not a lot that inspires that in me. I should really learn how to actually dance.

Witch Hunter Robin looks like it might be really good.

In other news, still on a quest for a good sports bra, pants and such. I wonder if I should get a yoga mat. Karen, should I get a yoga mat? I should buy socks too.

Talked with Cate for half an hour tonight. I really want to see her basement, with the feathery snake god painted on the wall. Scouting plane tickets, and it looks like I'll get them for the end of April.

Follow the link and follow the directions. Why not?

Slept until 2 this afternoon, for which I feel slightly guilty about. I think about Bryan, working two fulltime jobs and trying to keep it all together. It's only been a week but he already looks haunted and in need of sleep. He's fond of the tangerine altoids, so when I was at the gas station the other night I picked up a tin for him. A dollar fifty for a smile. I'm a big fan of small gestures that won't fix the big problem, but make the present a little bit more bearable. Everyone needs a little of that.

My copy of Lost Splendor arrived today. It's Prince Felix Yusupov's diary, first published in the 50s. The Yusupov family fled Russia in 1919, sold two Rembrandts that now hang in the National Gallery in Washington, and all of Princess Irina's jewels. They also won large libel settlements against MGM and CBS. Yusupov is widely believed to be the man who killed Rasputin, and certainly had a hand in the plot. (Personally, I think the Grand Duke Dmitry fired the killing shot, but that's another story.)

Anyhow, the diary was reprinted last year and should be interesting reading. I don't have a star struck approach to royal families, but I find the vanished aristocracy of Russia to be compelling reading. There's a picture in the book of the Dowager Emperess, Marie Feodorovna and she's strikingly beautiful. A shame we can not see the colors of the Yusupov villa at Tsarkoe Selo. An entire world, vanished.
