It made me very sappy and overjoyed to see the gay marriages today. Especially the women who had been together for about 51 years. I just don't understand objecting to anyone finding bliss with another person and making a choice to be bound with that person for life. Everyone should have the choice, regardless of their preferences. For crying out loud, we don't forbid certain ethnic groups from marrying, or fat kids, or even murderers on death row! Everyone deserves a chance at happiness. It's in our Consitution, and this is America.
We had a couple hours of training classes tonight, which was a nice break from work at least. In the first class, it was a review of scaling structures from aerials. The streets on the flood map were drawn a little too wide, and one of the instructors had scaled the lot incorrectly, which Alan took great delight in pointing out to the other instructor. I was irritated and tired of messing with numbers that didn't quite add up, so I marked off some points and drew the structure in freehand.
When I went up to the light table to compare with the instructors' supposedly correct copy, I was only slightly off! But the awful instructor freaked out and snapped at me for doing it freehand. It made me laugh and get very unpleasant for the rest of the class. Just to spite her and her elementary instructor attitude, I freehanded the second one and it was dead on perfect. I took some evil satisfaction there.
