nothing lasts forever
Jun. 1st, 2004 11:15 amI am weirdly nostalgic for my childhood, listening to my Guns N Roses cd. Regardless of the makeup and the clothes and the antics, I have to think they were actually a pretty decent rock band. Even despite Axl Rose's meglomania or perhaps because of it. And those crazy weird videos and all that went along with them. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? The first two had their certain stories, but the third was so off the wall bizarre.
They all look so young in the picture. It's an odd thing, how static certain images become and people are forever rendered in their twenties even when you did not know them.
Brett gave me a beautiful black and white David Bowie poster. I should frame it, as he looks so very sinister. Like a 1920s photograph, so remote from my own world. It is a very cool gift.
Now it looks like we will go drinking after work...

Jun. 1st, 2004 08:15 pmI am waiting for the rain. The heavy storms and potential tornados should be north of us. I am somewhat surprised I did not find myself in a hail storm or watching green black clouds. They usually come right around my birthday. I will never forget a time when I was maybe nine or ten, living in our first home in Austin on Barrington. I stood out in the backyard and looked directly up into a swirling green cloud. A baby tornado, not quite ready to descend. I must have watched it for a good five or ten minutes before my mother made me go inside.
We went to the Hut after work, which isn't such a bad place without the karoke. Plus, the drinks were cheaper than usual. Due to my lack of nourishment, they made me a little fuzzy round the edges. So we over compensated by eating enormous hamburgers, and mine was slathered in delicious honey mustard. Two hours later and I'm still full.
