a perfect murder
Feb. 13th, 2005 09:15 amI sat here debating the merits of each extended LOTR film and wondering if I had the emotional stamina to watch more than one this morning. I woke up at 7:30, because I went to bed so early last night. I cleaned up the living room a bit, and in the process found one of my favorite movies.
Normally I don't go in for remakes of classics, but I have a fondness for A Perfect Murder. I went through a period of time where I would watch this over and over. There's something about the colors, the city shots, and the clean stylized camera shots that I just adore.
It's a New York that has little of my actual experience, though I always smile when I see the Egyptian wing of the Met. But it is the New York of my imagination, built on Edith Wharton's society and modern films. I love the dark streets, the skyscrapers, the enormous apartment with a view of the park.
One day I watched this movie three or four times.
