It's just clouded by my mother's house. Further down 183 towards my office it is pouring rain. I picked a bad day to dress pretty. Oh well.

I wanted to call in to work and hang around the house until my copy of Harry Potter gets here. I am sadly too responsible to actually do it, so here I am at work.

I just had the bitchiest, most irritating caller. She didn't have a damn thing to report. Oh, heaven forfend, three young boys are playing half dressed in the rain! There's thunder! The parents sometimes have loud parties and people drink beer until 3am! Oh my god, send out the helicopters we have to remove those kids right away!

Seriously. If you're calling to make a report because you don't like the lifestyle of the parents, you're out of luck. This woman was even more annoying that the woman who called to report the parents let a lesbian couple babysit the kids. Hello, the gay is not smallpox. Shut the fuck up.

But all that was balanced out by the fact that Caroline Kennedy just called me to inform me that Bobby and JFK are doing fine and living in Atlantis now. Apparently JFK uses the name Nick Foster now, but he still gets to use Air Force 1. Pretty sweet, I say. I'll take crazy mental patient callers over bitchy self righteous neighbors any day, thank you.

kitten

Lest I forget, I came home from the bar last night and found a very rambunctious kitten in my mother's living room. It's been four years since she had a new cat, so I figure she is overdue. (For those keeping score at home, we are now at a grand total of nine.)

A man brought in some very sick kittens he found from a young stray. They were terribly covered in fleas and needed a real meal. My mother has learned to resist kitten charms and usually only rescues very ill or serious cases. She has the resources to allow her to take good care of them. Well the girls at the clinic persuaded my mother to finally look at this little fluffball. It's pale with a black nose and some smoke colored points and a stripe across her hindquarters. She has blue eyes. The kitten bears a remarkable resemblence to my mother's most beloved cat Whisper. Of course, she was smitten. So now China the fearsome kitten resides with all the other rescue kitties.

I'd forgotten how overwhelmingly cute kittens are. This is one is extra special. She's fearlessly exploring and leaping around. Whisper seems to like her, which is unusual as he normally ignores the new kittens. He's getting to be an older, lazy cat. I think he is 11 years old this year.

Kittens are grand.
