I am full of happiness because Kevin brought me Stanford socks! They amuse me.

We stayed up late talking and watching random video files he created either for school or hilarity. My favorites were the GTA III video set to this goofy techno song "I want to ride my bicycle" and Kevin's video about how to catch bees. We talked a lot about the divorce, and the chaos of that. Kevin and I have known each other for so long that there is never any pretense. We can both call each other's bull, but there's a wry humor to it. We have changed, but this doesn't.

I found my Christmas present to myself. This bracelet Golden Sea #1, and this necklace Golden Sea #2 from Wearable Sculpture. Kythryne put up 60 new pieces last night, and there are some spectacular beauties in there. I can't wait to be wearing those.

The cookies go into the overn, cook six minutes, rotate and cook six more. Things are going smoothly, and I estimate a dozen are left to cook.

I have a two inch long triangular burn on my right forearm. I'm really baffled as to how it made such a neat triangle shape. The oven door tagged me when I was rotating cookies this morning. Aaaaarrgghh. There was nothing at home to use for burn treatment or bandaids, but fortunately there is a first aid box at work.

On the brighter side, my BPAL order was delivered today! Thank heavens, I say.

christmas eve

It was very quiest all day long until about 7pm. Then the phones starting ringing off the hook with law enforcement calls. I've had three law enforcement requests for immediate assistance in the past 45 minutes. Egads.

What really made today hard was the two calls I had from teenagers. In both situations, the teens were calling about a friend who has just made an outcry of sexual abuse by a family member. The second was so awful in so many ways that I actually started to cry on the phone. I feel awful for these families. Christmas is now going to be that time of year when CPS showed up at the house. Ugh.

You have to be a really together, brave twelve year old kid to get this number and call. I tried really hard to be gentle with them and I kept reassuring them that they were doing the right thing. Poor kids.

It's almost time for me to go home. I've been kvetching about wanting to be out of here. But now that the phones are busy I'm almost guilty and feel like I should stay.

It's Christmas people! Stop being jerks out there.

I will be spending the night with my mother. There's tasty Luby's food waiting for me, and there will be a fire in the fireplace. I'm going to wrap some presents and have a glass of wine and it will be alright.
