christmas day, shout outs
Dec. 25th, 2005 03:27 pmIf there has ever been one constant in my life, it is Christmas day. Though the scene has changed many times, my father is no longer present with us, and I even missed one year, Christmas always seems to be exactly the same. That's alright with me. It means coffee, and blueberry muffins, and cats playing with wrapping paper. I hope that y'all are all well and happy out there.
My mother and sister loved their gifts. My mother received Gingerbread Poppet, and my sister got Snow White from BPAL's Yule line. I also picked up some last minutes soaps for them when I feared the perfumes wouldn't arrive. Both of them loved their gifts and I heaved a huge sigh of relief.
My mother gave me some very useful things, such a cordless drill, a new wallet, a carton of cigarettes and bunny slippers. I laughed out loud when I unwrapped a carton of Camel Lights. Then I told my mother that I needed to tell Livejournal and the internet about it. She also gave me a My Little Pony! when I was a kid, I had damned near every one of those. That's what I get for talking all year about wanting a pony. Hahah. I love it. My sister gave me teas, and a gift card to the Alamo Drafthouse. I also ended up with new pajamas, a neat game that's similar to backgammon and a new bedspread. Some really lovely gifts. I think my favorite has to be the pound of Harrar coffee beans from Texas Coffee Traders. This stuff is heavenly dark and deep.
We went to see King Kong this afternoon. Wow. Just wow. Peter Jackson blows my mind. Who knew Jack Black coudl be a decent actor? It's utterly beautiful and if you haven't seen it you are depriving yourself of one incredible piece of film. (And yes Tyler, I cried. Stuff it.)
My burn appears to be okay. It stings from time to time. I need to put some more neosporin on there. It's a lot more significant than I first imagined, but it hasn't blistered up yet. It looks like it is trying. but I'm taking care of it Aunt Tricia, I promise!
Making some late afternoon lunch, mmm penne. Also constantly refreshing that email box. Clock if you buy me a drink I will tell you some crazy damned stories.
