gin and 7-Up

Sarah came over to hang out last night, and there was much witty banter, razored insults and double entendres. We are extremely snappy conversationalists. It doesn't help that Tyler makes it so easy to needle him on a number of subjects. Though Tyler seems to have picked up a very distressing habit of trying to set people on fire that is reminiscent of Gene. Bad influences, we all are.

I adore sleeping late and going in at my normal hours. It's so nice after having to get up and be somewhere at 9am the past two days. I am not an early morning person. If I wake up on my own, say on a Saturday, I will get busy with little things under my own power. But I dislike waking up to the alarm clock. Though tomorrow I really need to get that damned oil change done.

Dreaming last night was strange. Kevin was back in Texas for a family event. I had two boxes full of rare BPAL that my sister and mother stole from me, and for some reason I was driving a pick up truck. I was sad when I woke up and didn't have any of that BPAL.

sooner or later, that day comes round

This day has been long. Far longer than it should have been. I also keep thinking it is Thursday instead of Wednesday and I only just now figured it out. Gods above. But on the bright side of that it meant I was reading the Chronicle online and saw the Paramount's summer film schedule. For my birthday weekend they are showing Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon! Rock on. I have to go see them, really I do. Not that I haven't seen these movies so many times before but I love to watch them on the big screen. Thank you Paramount, for that birthday surprise. They are also doing double features of Baby Doll & Lolita as well as a double of On the Waterfront & A Streetcar Named Desire during the summer. I don't think I've been to the Paramount in at least five years. I really need to go this year.

Speaking of birthdays, I think I'm going to ask my father for glasses for my birthday. I need them, badly. My glasses are three years old and I can tell it's time for new ones. I have always wanted prescription sunglasses, because I just don't do the contact lenses thing. I'm hoping that my father will be amused by my request for such a practical thing and help me out with the cost.

On a daily basis I speak to so many professionals who don't deserve to be called professionals. They're often idiots who can't be bothered to do their job. It's demoralizing and frustrating. But today was different. I spoke to a school counselor who was so spot on with everything. She had all the information, she was concerned, she pretty much did her job and did it well. At the end of the call I made sure to tell her that I appreciated her for just being so damned decent.

Then of course, someone made me feel incredibly stupid so it all balances out.

But, I'll go home soon. I'll eat chicken enchiladas with green chile sauce, because Tyler is awesome and makes enchiladas. I'll play some WoW maybe, watch Top Chef, read Harpers, maybe write a letter. It will all be okay.

Brokeback Snake Mountain - Miss Natalie linked this earlier, and I must spread the hilarious evil. Yes, this is He-Man with the dialogue from the preview of Brokeback Mountain. I cackled.
