threeplusfire: (LM before war)
I dreamed about war, and about a city that was all cities I have ever been inside. Everyone was out with the soldiers in the streets, and ordinary people were throwing bricks down the advancing avenues. I had a little plastic bag with a toothbrush, and saline solution, and a dozen packs of various cigarettes. (Hah, my care package for the end of the world) towards the end, I booked it up four flights of stairs to find someone, and the air raid sirens went off. I fell down on my knees, and it felt as if all the oxygen was sucked out while the world went white.

So I imagine dying in a nuclear war.

This dream comes up from time to time. I first had it when I was eight or nine, and reading creepy apocalyptic fiction and observing the slow death of the Soviet Union and Iron Curtain on television. I have this dream from time to time, always the same except for the faces and minor details. I've dreamed this so much that I honestly wonder if it is real somewhere out there.

I don't want to move afterwards.

Dear Officer Bianez #1467,

You are my new police officer crush. You're funny, and sweet, and you were cute when you pointed out that our badge numbers are so similar. Your questions about cases and situations were thoughtful, and I think you are a lot like me. I think we should go get burgers and hang out. Move to Austin!

much love,

Specialist Amanda #1466

Today I ordered a fancy insulated lunch box. This one actually, in green. I want to buy tiny bottles of champagne and some caviar to eat from it. Hah. Changing my diet is a serious pain in the ass, and will hopefully be worth it at some point. There was cake at work, but none for me. I was sad. Eating actual breakfast and lunch makes me so much more hungry during the day, so I'm hoping I can pack my fancy new lunch box with healthy snack type things.

Miss Natalie, always a font of knowledge, theorized the book I was looking for was Children of the Dust. I'm pretty sure she is right. Of course, I can't figure it out because all the copies seem a bit expensive. Damn it.

From the Associated Press Wire this afternoon:
An inmate serving a life sentence for molesting and murdering a 10-year-old girl named Katie in 2005 was apparently forcibly tattooed across the forehead with the words “Katie’s Revenge ”by a fellow prisoner, the authorities say. The inmate, Anthony R. Stockelman, 39, was removed from the general prison population for his safety last weekend after the authorities discovered the tattoo, officials said. Prison officials said an inmate had been identified as a suspect.

All I can say is HAH!!! I somehow doubt laser tattoo removal will be offered.
