summer in december

In theory there will be a winter storm later this week, and things will freeze. It's difficult to imagine while I am still wearing tank tops and flip flops in the seventy five degree weather. I shouldn't complain about this painfully late Indian summer, or the beauty of those mild skies. I bought a new sweater, and maybe by the end of the week it will be cold enough to wear it. I would like the front to move through at least, because my bones ache as if I'm sixty instead of twenty six.

I am so much more emotional lately than I want to be. I actually cried when watching the local news about the Christmas drives from Brown Santa and Blue Santa. When did I turn into such a sentimental loon? Gods above. So at some point I think I'll go toy shopping for nameless kids. I think maybe why this makes me so sad is that I wonder how many of them are CPS families. I love the holidays, with the lights and trees and all that jazz. My parents and grandparents always made sure we had Christmas, even when we were dirt poor.
