Nov. 29th, 2006 12:35 pmI woke up at 6am sweating and scared from very bad dreams about the yakuza, a fight with a friend, and someone sawing my precious bookshelf in half. It was not an ideal way to start. I've been sort of queasy and off kilter all day. We're having massive computer problems at work, the training room is frigid, and it's grey out there. I just want to go home and go back to bed with my book.
I had Romanian food last night in a restaraunt called Drakula that was constantly playing O-Zone. I kid you not. The delicious meat, cabbage and sour cream reminded me painfully of Prague, and I think I'll have to eat there a lot from now on. Evzen, they even have fried cheese. You really need to come down here.
Re-reading The Engineer of Human Souls which is a large tome that makes me look educated and literate. It's really just one of the most beautiful novels about living ever made. Skvorecky makes me happy, deep down. His stories are often very bittersweet, and they don't skimp on the painful aspects of life. They are beautiful though, making it all worthwhile.
