Boris Yeltsin was the man on top of the tank. I remember seeing him on Headline News, with Don Harrison anchoring the broadcast. (Don Harrison and Peter Jennings were the voices of the news in my childhood.) Yeltsin was a flawed man, but a man who was clearly loved his country and was passionate in such an epic Russian way. It makes me sad, to watch these people pass away. I suppose many people feel like this all time, watching history and the world change.

Yoga reminds me that I am not entirely graceful. It is sort of strange to figure out what I'm terrible at, and what doesn't bother me. I'm crazy flexible through the hips, though this is not always so good for my joints or my lower back. But the tendons in my arms are in tight rebellion, and sometimes my balance just isn't quit there. We did inversions today, which is good and bad. I don't like downward dog, because it puts pressure on the scar in my right hand fiercely. But some of the others aren't too bad.

My last beginner class is on Wednesday. I need to decide if I am going to purchase passes for more classes. I like doing this. If I could ever get my schedule changed at work, it would be easier to do more. But I think once or twice a week may be a good thing for me. It gets me out of the house. It is good for making me a slightly calmer person. It also helps my back and anything that does something for my back is worthwhile.

My sleep has been strange, fine one day and disturbed the next. Last night I slept solidly, hardly even moving. Mike read me Russian until I fell asleep. I am a fan of a good bedtime story, especially one in Russian.

We are going to see Ghost Dog tomorrow at the Drafthouse. It's crazy to think they will be moving in a couple months. Saw Grindhouse last night with Steven and James and a friend. It was far better than either of us expected. (Though I was really regretting eating during the beginning of "Planet Terror.") Seeing bits of Austin on the screen always amuses me. Overall it was pretty entertaining, and I have to say it was deeply satisfying to see Rose McGowan cause Quentin Tarantino some serious pain.
