I really sort of couldn't bear to document two deaths in one day, but David Halberstam also passed away. He died in a car accident, on the way to an interview. If you have never read any of Halberstam's books, you should. He was an excellent writer, and passionate about all his subjects. His name will go up now on a piece of etched glass at the museum in DC. I think I have a picture of that memorial somewhere, of the way the light colors when it hits the panes of glass.
