this is an open road song

I am more exhausted than you can possibly imagine. I don't think I've been this tired since the endless trip from Brno to Austin in 2002 that involved two or three different flights, a bus trip and a car ride from Dallas. Last night I fell asleep sometime before midnight, and I managed to sleep mostly until nine this morning. I am so tired sitting at my desk that I keep tilting sideways.

The drive home was relatively pain free. My hips ache from sitting in the car for nine hours or so. We stopped at the first Taco Bell we saw, because for some reason that sounded better than anything. Houston rush hour wasn't too terribly bad, and the way up 71 was restful as ever. I bought the last five kolaches in the case at Hruska's, and a packet of sugar cookies stuffed with raspberry/orange jam. They are super delicious.

There is a stuffed vulture on my desk. It is seriously awesome. Kirby thinks the beanie people put a flamingo head on a penguin body, and I have to agree. It is so awesome. Forward the turkey buzzard army!

I have interesting things to say, but right now I am too tired to say anything.
