tuesdays are cruel days

I found this quote today and felt it to be infinitely applicable to my life. So much so, that I made my necklace today out of these words. delchi suggested a trick to coding words into the patterns so I bought a billion tiny beads. While my trainee works, I fiddle with the beads and resist the urge to loom over her shoulder. I think I've pretty much gotten it down, so I need to make a couple bracelets I promised.

Work is work. Full of grimness. I am taking tomorrow off to go to the dentist and accomplish some other mundane tasks. Maybe do some video gaming in there too. Part of me just wants to go to the lake, but that would be rather irresponsible given the laundry I need to do.

I really hope my packages arrive in the mail soon. I also need to mail some bills tomorrow. And drink more mango juice.

1. My username is tsarina because it is one of my oldest online handles. (The other one was already taken when I signed up for LJ way back in the day.) I dithered for days picking out an account name. Tsarina finally seemed best because it was way more simple than tsarina amanda. Originally tsarina was simply for my love for Russian stories and the strange history of the aristocracy.

2. My journal title is "The past is only the future with the lights on." It is a lyric from a Sugarcult song I heard last year. It seems especially relevant, as this place is the longest I have ever managed to keep a journal. In the past I would routinely destroy them, or fail to keep up. My livejournal gives me a queer perspective on all my arrogance and foibles.

3. My subtitle is "all we are is all so far" and happens to be a lyric from an Our Lady Peace song. Given that this is ostensibly a journal to record my ongoing development, it seems quite apt. It is the truth, after all.

4. My friends page is called "voices in the wired" because of Lain. In the anime series Lain, the online world was referred to as the wired, and that image always sort of stuck. All these posts are ghostly voices in a wired world that only exists in a certain kind of light.

5. My default user pic is currently Micheal Whelan's "The Summer Queen." The painting is the cover art for an excellent novel of the same name. Whelan is one of my favorite artists, and I also have an icon of the companion piece, the Winter Queen. It is summer, and I am the tsarina. But really, I like to change my default often to suit the seasons or my mood.
