Meme:
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it." Oh internets, take my time.
1. Textures weird me out. I like things to be smooth. I have a very bad habit of pulling on my hair, scratching at my skin, poking other people, crumbling walls, and generally getting freaked out and nauseous by porous objects. (I want to crush them!) Weirdly, this texture is issue is almost reversed in food. Many mushy, non-textured things weird me out. Though I do like a good chocolate mousse.
2. I have a large chunk of gravel, about the size of a dime, embedded in my palm. It's been there for almost 15 years now. (Very bad bike accident when I was twelve in which I punched a good hole into my hand.) I also have scarring inside my throat from having a tube shoved down it while unconscious in a speeding ambulance on roads covered in ice. (long story) I used to have some weird looking scars on my feet from walking home several miles in a brand new pair of sandals on a whim, causing my feet to bleed. Most of the scars on my arms are invisible now.
3. I like to read books and eat ice cream while in the shower. I never really liked smoking in the shower, even when I was smoking. (I still miss smoking. Oh I love to smoke.)
4. When I got divorced, I kept my ex's last name. Partially because it was a super hassle to change it in the first place and because the hassle involved in changing it with my state employment would be EXTRA horrible. But also because the last name is Czech, and since people like to believe I'm Slavic anyhow it makes me seem more authentic. I think this decision hurts my father, because he wasn't all that thrilled when I got married and changed my name in the first place. (I have no brothers to carry on this family name.) But, what can you do?
5. Most of the time when I bake things, I don't even actually want to eat the things I've made. I do want to like the bowl/spoon/beater though.
6. My favorite thing to do alone in Prague was wander around Stare Mesto, buy soap or books or ice cream, have a couple drinks and just pretend I was someone else entirely.
7. For someone so invested in communication, in language, in writing and such, I am bad at asking for what I want/need. I couch everything in layers and subtle hints that no one in their right mind would ever figure out. I imbue words with specialized meanings and forget to explain them to other people. As I've recognized the destructive and foolish craziness this can cause, I've tried to become better about it. It is not easy though.
