a mortal life
Nov. 26th, 2007 09:42 amWhen I watch the Lord of the Rings films on screen, they get to me. When the riders of Rohan come thundering across the fields, riding for the world's ending, I get choked up. At Aragorn's coronation, when Elrond pushes his daughter forward and whispers "Go to him" I usually start to cry in earnest. The expression on his face of mingled grief and joy is overwhelming.
Yesterday, we stood in line in the theater. It was exactly a year since we met, accidentally, at the same event. A year ago we made small talk, the casual chat of strangers in lines.
Yesterday, he asked me to marry him. In Russian, in line in the theater, with an emerald ring in one of my jewelry boxes. Da, I said and we hugged each other tightly at ten in the morning on a cold, rainy November Sunday. Yes.
(Apologies to everyone who reads it here first - I've only made a couple calls as I've been coughing like the devil and may have bronchitis again. At least this time I called Racheline first, hahah.)
I will try to get someone to upload a photo of the ring, as it is unlike any I've found on google. It is unbearably beautiful.
