She is standing in the aisle trying to decide what kind of bologna or fake cheese processed food to buy for the kids' lunches. She's a middle aged middle class white woman, probably in her late thirties but looking at least five years older with flat, faded brown hair that has grown out unattractively of what might have passed for a flattering cut eight or nine months ago. Her weak chin blends into her neck, she wears bright colors in a matching twinset. Her makeup is rudimentary, just enough to leave the house and her eyes are angry. She's pushing a cart and talking loudly on her cell phone to a friend, maybe another mother. "Did you hear she won the science fair? You know the fair they have... I know! Now I have to go sit at some boring dumb science fair..." It makes one pity whatever bright little girl lives with that woman and her haggard dismay. She probably drives a new model SUV and watches celebrity gossip shows on the television.

I think I have to write about each weird little piece of humanity I see in the grocery store. That way if I ever lack for setting or drama when writing, I can fish one of them out of the notebook.
