Jul. 5th, 2008 02:27 pmAhh, long lazy weekend. Yesterday we visited
brienze, who always provides incredible foods and drinks. Hot dogs, burgers, homemade Oreos, rum punch, what more could there be? I sort of wanted to sit around drinking that rum punch until I passed out.
Remember the weird animatronic band at Showbiz Pizza? Apparently they inspired quite a devoted fandom. Watching the muppet band perform an Usher song is just a tiny bit surreal.
Interview meme from
fleurdeliser:
1. Favorite song of all time (or one of them, if you can't choose a single song)?
That is really hard. How do I evaluate the relative merits of my teenage love for "Don't Cry" versus "Paradise City?" Or "Heart Shaped Box" versus "Scary Monsters" versus "Down in it?" I think I'm going to go with The Killers, "For Reasons Unknown." When I first heard that song in 2006, I sort of felt like it was meant for me.
2. How did you answer the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" when you were 8?
I think the answer was something like Indiana Jones. I wanted to uncover weird history while having adventures. I loved dinosaurs and monster stories. I wanted to live in a museum.
3. Sushi or Steak?
I love them both and would eat them all the time if I could. My steak should be a cold red in the center, just barely scorched on the outside and should come with potatoes and horseradish mixed with sour cream. For sushi, I want scallops topped with tiny smelt roe, tiny purple octopus, sea bass, salmon and yellow tail paired with mango slices.
4. What one book do you think everyone should read at some point in their lives?
Another tricky question. I think everyone should read something by Josef Skvorecky. his stories encapsulate so much of what we are, what can be and where we fail.
5. Where would you move if you could move anywhere in the world right now (money is no object)?
Now that's an easy answer. I would move to Prague. I'd have a flat in the city, in the building near the Vltava where we crossed the bridge every day for university classes. Or maybe a castle in the Moravian countryside. Or an apartment in Manhattan.
