Things which are true:

- Today was the 42nd straight day of over 100 degree temperatures in Austin
- We are experiencing a drought.
- There have been at least 8 apartment fires in the past ten days, destroying dozens of homes.
- Fireworks have been illegal in the city limits for years.
- This apartment complex is older, with lots of wood and surrounded by trees.

All these things are true. So what the fuck was some idiot thinking when they started setting off fireworks half an hour ago? If I catch them I'm going to break their nose and/or their knees. There is such a thing as criminally stupid.

I heard two bursts of them, but was unable to determine who it was when I went outside. I'm calling the police if I hear it again. That perhaps sounds excessive. But fireworks + extraordinarily dry conditions + large number of older apartment buildings in the area = dangerous. A fire would probably rip through these buildings in a heart beat. It's making me anxious, honestly. I made sure I knew where the cat carrier is sitting just in case. Ugh. I don't know how I will ever get to sleep.

And if it turns out to be those bratty frat wannabe kids next door with the hippie parents, then there is really going to be hell to pay.
