I'm working on my Thanksgiving menu... This is the first time I've done a Thanksgiving meal in forever. Mike's parents are visiting, so it will be four places unless we get any last minute guests. I really don't care too much for turkey, and the thought of giant mounds of leftover turkey gives me hives. I'm going to make a ham instead as its far tastier to me and certainly less stressful. (Plus, ham stands up to something like the bourbon pecan glaze I am contemplating.) So far my current menu plan is:

Ham with bourbon pecan glaze
Big crusty loaf of bread
Green beans with ginger and cashews
Borscht, borscht and more borscht
Roasted red potato (?)
Apple pie
Chocolate pie

I don't really like green bean casserole, which probably makes some of my friends gasp in horror. I think it will be better to have fresh green beans in a dish with a bit more crunch. Making borscht is something I've wanted to do for awhile but one really needs lots of diners and lots of time. Plus it will count as another vegetable. I love beets! They are so purple! I'll need to make some potato for it, so I could shoehorn another side dish in with some extra potato... I don't know however. I may do something else. Bread's easy and then of course there must be pie. I think apple and chocolate make a nice balance.

Last night I had what constitutes the weirdest dream I've had in a long time. Long story short, it was all about having an affair with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Seriously. I don't know where that came from.

Last night we dyed Mike's hair green. Today is both Product Presentation Day and Halloween Costume Contest day. Oh NI, you are so weird. Mike's dressed up as everyone else who dressed up as The Joker this Halloween. He got this incredible, delightfully tacky cheap costume and we made up his face this morning. I take credit for the hair - that was all me. I made cookies for his presentation, in the shape of the user icon for the program. We joked about labeling them "NOT POISON" to tie them into his costume.

The response to my LJ Idol entry this week has been pretty gratifying. I wasn't sure it would be interesting enough, but I suppose I underestimated the adorable factor of kitties. So far I've only read one other entry, which was [livejournal.com profile] rm's piece. It's quite intense and has the stylistic voice that I've always liked in her writing.
