someday love will find you
Feb. 12th, 2009 05:26 pmToday's work was quick and easy. Not like yesterday where I must have had around 1500 profiles to approve along with a load of reviews, questions and answers. When my part time job changed their billing procedures a couple months ago, I was worried that I would lose income. We went from billing for a standard block of time to billing for actual hours worked. Looking at my paychecks however, I think I'm actually making the same if not more. That's a relief in uncertain economic times.
(And before you ask, no I'm sorry we aren't hiring right now. I really am sorry.)
Last night we went to the Love Bites sing-along at the downtown Drafthouse. They even ordered a bunch of cheap plastic lighters for everyone to hold aloft during their favorite songs. I burned my thumb during Bon Jovi, ouch. They played at least four Journey songs. The ones that got the crowd most riled up (in my opinion) were Bonnie Tyler's "Eclipse of the Heart," Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do" and of course, Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name." The roar when Queen came on was huge. They ran Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love" with lots of video clips from Karate Kid, and some random guy went up on stage to do cranes and interpretative dance of the entire song. It was in short, totally awesome.
The funny thing is that one can no longer tell who is dressed in costume for 80's events.
The Drafthouse is showing the premier of Whedon's Dollhouse at the South Lamar on Friday. The post hints they will be showing a certain horrible doctor on screen after the show, if you are into that sort of thing or Neil Patrick Harris.
I seem to be on an irregular LJ updating schedule. I have given a lot of thought to the issue recently and determined that anything requiring I do the same thing day after day - taking medicines, writing, exercise, cleaning, anything - is doomed. Some part of me just hates that routine. I always want to be doing something other than what I am assigned to do. Whiskey tango foxtrot?
One of my friends is getting her wrist tattoos done this weekend. I am so full of envy. I want a new tattoo. The problem is that I have not decided what I want yet.
The repairs to the bathroom are not as fearsome as I imagined. The estimate from the contractor was half of what I expected, and they are going to put a cultured marble slab in place to prevent this sort of thing from being a recurring issue. Now we must wait for the slab to be poured and cured before they can come redo the wall.
Picked up chocolate covered strawberries from Amy's today, as well as a pint of chocoberry ice cream. Nom nom nom.
