the pitiless sky
Aug. 15th, 2009 09:25 amThe city is finally going to put in serious watering restrictions. The kind that say don't wash your driveway and your sidewalk. I would imagine not pouring water on the concrete would be common sense during a drought like we are experiencing, but apparently not. I have a neighbor who likes to spray down his driveway in case any leaves got onto it. I am tempted to buy him a broom.
The water at Barton Springs is barely moving. Lake Travis is down to 635 feet. We've had about twelve inches of rain so far this year, which is about eight inches less than the average. Eight inches doesn't sound like a lot, but there was a drought happening before this year. I got used to the merciless blue sky. Now it is the clouds that make me crazy. They keep popping up, but nothing ever comes of them.
Yesterday I saw Julia and Julie, which was a pretty entertaining movie. It made me hungry for lots of food. A week and a half until I start getting my vegetables from Steele Farms. I choose them because they offer more opportunity to customize what you receive. I am not a fan of cauliflower, so Ic an swap it out for more beets or cucumbers or something. Plus they have eggs apparently, chicken and duck, from time to time.
I am so looking forward to District 9, but I want to avoid the rush crowd.
