Sep. 21st, 2010 07:30 pmI feel like I'm making the same face as Harry in my icon but for completely different reasons. Oh webcams and video conferences, I really just don't like you. Maybe I'm just old. Also, Skype your new beta is terrible. Terrible. Seriously.
We have this weekly video chat with Mike's sister and parents, which is nice. But it is always bedeviled by some technical difficulty that makes me want to throw my hands in the air and practice my penmanship. It's ultimately a good thing, in that this is one of the many ways my in-laws demonstrate that not all families are as dysfunctional and difficult as the one I grew up with. We talk about things and it is good.
(There is probably an interesting psychological observation to made on these basic facts - My in-laws live a thousand miles away and we talk weekly. My parents both live within a few miles of me and we never talk.)
I went to therapy and the grocery store today, then spent most of my afternoon reading. Tomorrow I have lots of work, and a work conference call. Those are always sort of draining because I feel like I have to put on a certain element of performance with them. It always makes me tired but then I have to go right back to work.
