so many little things
Aug. 1st, 2011 08:03 pmWe saw Cowboys & Aliens yesterday. It is a fun summer movie with some explosions, a refreshing lack of thinly plotted sex, two of my favorite actors with bonus sexy Olivia Wilde wearing a ridiculous gingham dress and lots of dry Southwestern landscape. There were some funny nods to classic Western tropes and Daniel Craig does a pretty good Harrison Ford impression. I recommend. Also, I totally want some fic set in that space.
August is traditionally the hottest month. We hit 107 officially today. The people at ERCOT (Energy Resource Commission of Texas) have started asking for energy conservation during the peak hours of 3-7pm. I'm glad to put off doing the laundry. I'm also using the clothes line in the backyard this year for drying more than just blankets. It was awful today. I left for the store and when I got back the AT&T service guy was still working across the street so I took him some ice water.
I have to bake a cake for Mike since it is NI Week and his interns will be going soon. It will have to wait until later though because I'll need to use the mixer for the frosting.
On Saturday I watched the most recent episode of Project Runway. Oh heavens. It's too soon to tell if there are any enormous personalities in that bunch. I do love Burt though. I do still like the idea of the show as well, despite last year's train wreck of crazy and crack smoking decisions.
