I finished work and decided to exercise this morning. At the end of my regular workout I decided to tack on an extra 25 minutes and watch the first episode of an anime someone recently introduced to me. (Which is Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi and oh dear I love, love, love it already. Boys working in the shojo manga department of a publisher! Lost love! Tragic memories! Swoon!)

Anyways, it put my grocery shopping off until later than usual. Which was good because the store was remarkably not crowded and I also missed what looked like a horrible accident. Half the street was blocked off with several police cars and a crime scene van. From the look of the bicycle upside down on the sidewalk and the smashed car, it did not look good. I hope they are alright.

In the grocery store, I bought some foods including shrimp and granola bars. I chatted with a pleasant lady about how to cook with leeks. Then I found myself wandering up the frozen sweets aisle for no reason at all. I wasn't intending to buy any ice cream or anything. Mostly I was just giving my brain a chance to remember any last minute needs. I stopped at the end of the aisle and found the only pint of Schweddy Balls ice cream left. Stacy has been searching fruitlessly for this stuff for weeks. Since she was working from home not far away, I had to buy it and deliver it. The reaction was priceless. It definitely has a rum flavor.

I managed to make it home before the school zone traffic started too. Yay.

Dear Internet,

I need you to cough up some awesome fic about this. There are so many places you can go with it. But Joseph Gordon-Levitt doing an Axl Rose impression & Jimmy Fallon doing David Bowie while they sing ridiculous karoke may just be one the best things I'll see all year.

IT IS SO GREAT. SWEET GODS ABOVE.

Over the summer, our area switched over to a single stream recycling program. They use a giant bin and come every other week. We can now recycle paper, plastic, glass, & aluminum all in one pile. Apparently participation in the recycling program doubled when this started and now more than 70% of my neighbors are using it. The municipal district gets a $20 per ton rebate and last month they got a check for $1200. Crazy! (The money is going to park services.)

I cannot believe how great this for us. The amount of garbage we put out weekly has dropped dramatically and we fill up the recycling bin pretty quickly. (All that junk mail, sheesh.)
