What I just finished reading: Yesterday I ripped through Long Live The King by Fay Weldon. Oh I love Weldon. The sharp, tricky words and terribly human characters.
What I'm currently reading: Moscow Noir, a collection of short stories. Apparently there's a whole series of these collections, set in different cities. Pretty awesome.
What I'm going to read next: Probably more Black Butler manga, since that is my new fandom love. Or The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross.
Also-
What I'm going to do tonight: Andy LePlegua from Combichrist and Icon of Coil is going to DJ tonight at Elysium. I have no idea why he's randomly in town but it seems pretty awesome.
Still unemployed. Yep.
Last night I saw The Great Gatsby. It's so beautiful. Those party scenes alone are worth watching it for, because there's so much happening on the screen. My favorite thing about this movie is how well it captures that sense of being someone who knows this world but doesn't belong to this world, being the person at the party who is just watching it all fall, being on the inside and the outside. I almost wish there had been more of the music and the soundtrack haunted my head for the rest of the evening. It didn't hurt that the Drafthouse banged out a superb feast to go along with it.
The drought continues, though we've had a couple days of rain recently. It's amazing how quickly the grass changes color and perks up after the rain.
