Went to see Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust last night at the Dobie with Derek and another friend. I'd forgotten how much I liked the original, especially D's horse. Bloodlust was much more angsty than the first, and some of the art was quite beautiful. The opening sequence, in which all the crosses on the rooftops melt in the vampire's passing is wonderful.

Derek and I stayed up late, talking about the general weirdness of the world. People we knew in high school are having babies and getting married. The crazy artist boy of all people is married. Our lives seem to be full of weird coincidence.

I only slept a few hours, and woke from a rather unpleasant nightmare. Better that way though. Any dream in which one is screaming at a 911 operator can't end well. SO I'll work on my Christmas cards and drink pineapple juice.

Its a dub, right? Are the voices good? Also, how confused do you think you'd be if you hadn't seen the first one? Amy and I are thinking about going.

Yeah, it's dubbed. The voice acting isn't bad, though sometimes it just sounds kinda awkward. Like many an anime dub. But D's voice is silky and fabulous.

I think someone could thoroughly enjoy this without having seen the first one. It's got great atmosphere, possibly even better than the first one.
