aches and pains

Though I slogged my way through school, I could not make it through work. I thinhk I have whatever flu is passing around, though I still have a buried fear of menigitis, thanks to the unfortunate business student.

Speaking of unfortunate business students, I almost killed one today. He had the gall to stand up and say that any religious beliefs a person might hold immediately negated their intelligence and knowledge. I twitched in my seat, and I'm fairly certain my Classics professor knew what I was thinking. Before class he complimented my hat. Today I carried my giant umbrella and pretended to be a Bulgarian assassain.

I'm leaning towards playing the King in our Czech play, or perhaps the Wise Old One. Both are male roles, but we have too many girls in the class. The king has much comic potential. I wish I could act. I'm too introverted, too shy for it, but I love the idea. The psychological game of being someone else.

Who the hell publishes the budget? Is that an in house operation?

The damp miserable weather is not helping the ache in my joints. I've ordered Chinese food, a comfort. Seasame chicken and egg drop soup, and steamed dumplings.

My grandmother sent me more clothes. She is a very sweet woman. She wants me to dress myself a bit better, in hopes perhaps that I will value my physical self a little more. My grandmother is not shallow, just pragmatic and oddly insightful. Because it does help to wear jeans that fit. They give me a small private joy, which matters more than if anyone notices me in them.

Oh yay the food has arrived.

that the male roles are better.

Especially in this case.
I leave it up to the professor to cast his lover as the golden haired princess Zlatovlaska. ;)

But you forget that Zlatovlaska is a man ;)

Hah! This is true. So are you going to be Zlatovlaska? I think you should. :P

He had the gall to stand up and say that any religious beliefs a person might hold immediately negated their intelligence and knowledge.

The next time someone makes such an inane statement, you might direct them to read Willam James' The Varieties of Relgious Experience, particularly his theory of the "cash value" of relgious belief. Be sure to make this statement in the tone of someone-needs-to-read-a-little-more-before-they-open-their-mouths.

turn the table...

someone like that could also be reminded that the denial of a religious belief still qualifies as a religious belief. a belief isn't always an affirmation of faith, ask any atheist

Right. When I was an atheist, I believed firmly in non-existence and such things. Noe it's switched around, but it has always been a belief in a religious sense.

That is a lovely idea. Considering how often this idiot spouts off, and how eager he is to debate his psuedo-knowledge with the professor, I'm sure I will have a chance soon.

The Tsarina has an excellent, withering boice appropriate for just such a moment. Delight!

When I was taking a semester of German in Rhode Island, we did some short plays based on German stories. I was Uncle Fritz from Max and Moritz. I'm also too introverted to act very well. I forgot my lines at one point during the play, but overall, I think I did ok, considering I was playing an old decrepit German man.

Anyway, whatever role you end up with, just be sure to have fun with it! And remember, You da man! ;)

I'm trying to picture you as an old decrepit German man. :P

Hee, thanks. It's fairly funny material and as long as I don't suddenly start speaking in Russian I will be okay.

Too introverted to act? Fooey!! I bet you'd be fabulous! Are we still on for this weekend? How's about making some bath bombs for Valentine's on Saturday? I'll get the fixin's if you're up for it.

Heh, I'm okay in small situations, but in an auditorium, eek. I can't sustain the connection to so many people at once. Make me a small theater girl.

Oh that sounds so fun!! I can not wait for this week to be over so I can come visit.

Did you get the flu shot? I did. If you need anything after you leave your mom's house, email me, or call. :-)

No, I've still got that morbid fear of shots. One would think that the tattoo might have cured that, but no.

Thanks Miss Natalie. :D
