Better again today than yesterday. I think the last time I had the flu was around 1990 or so. I was in elementary school, I'm sure. Back to work, and the real world today.

As I remarked to my mother the other night after my sister's tantrum, things do not change very much. My sister still listens to the same bad rap music early in the morning, and we still ensconce ourselves in opposite ends of the house and manage civil brief exchanges. I'd forgotten how much I liked to shower in the mornings, with the light from the textured glass shining on my head. My mother offered to let me stay another night, and I can't say how much I want to stay right here. It's safe, it's something of a life I thought long since forgotten in all the wreckage of the years.

I think I will name my little tiger Merlin. It's a good name. If I can't have a real cat, I can at least have a stuffed animal. It's too bad Melynda is so allergic to them.

I think a lot of strange and often sad thoughts at this house. Of the past and the future. It makes me wish I could spend more meaningful time with my mother, that I knew the people in my family more as people and not just relations.

Tantrum in the Tropics

Tell me about it. My brother doesn't exactly make life easy, playing his video games at top volume even after 4 AM and such. And tantrums? I don't even want to think about it. It's hideous how violent he gets over the least thing. I hope to God he grows out of it, I really do, or someone's going to be estranged as soon as he moves out. And that's really a shame! I can't say I never did nothin' wrong growing up, but I stopped my little snits well before I was 15, dahling.
