at Cate's house in the woods

Across the street are many deer, trying to decide if they want to eat the cereal and potatos in the front yard. A puffed bluejay is sitting amongst the red berries of a tree. The kitchen smells like coffee, and bacon, and chocolate chip cookies. My Czech slippers slide over the saltillo tile, and it's cold outside.

Cate's house is a dream. Beautiful, well laid out, comforting. It reminds me in some ways of the house I was a child in, an dof my grandparents house in Amarillo. The same feeling, I suppose. I could so live here. The soccer game is of because it's below freezing, so we're having a lazy Saturday morning.

I think white wine goes well with chocolate raspberry brownies.
