The world is truly going to hell. I'm glad I wasn't home last night to see the horror that was 'Celebrity Boxing.'
Otesanek is playing this weekend at Dobie. I must see if Gene wants to go Saturday night, or on Sunday. I also want to go one last time to the Arbor before it closes. I might cry. That theater is central to my love of movies, and so many experiences. Tracy's sister Megan worked there, and would let us in for free. We saw Jack the Bear and JFK there. I saw Star Wars on the big screen at the Arbor, and we waited in line beside Harry Knowles and a guy dressed in a fantastic Boba Fett costume. I walked in on people having sex on the bathroom counter upstairs. The ceiling has puffy clouds and stars. Michael and I saw The Maltese Falcon there, right before we broke up. I went to a movie alone for the first time, to see Fargo at the Arbor. Damn it, I can't believe they're taking it away.

Re:
Daina, I have read about the difficult time you've been through lately. I'm sorry I haven't said anything sooner, but my heart grieves with you. I've been there.

The decor is actually supposed to be reminiscent of the town square in Back to the Future, what with clouds, a clock tower (I think it actually has the theater's symbol on it) and the occasional lightning strike.
Re:
I hear that Regal might get into the defunct theater up the street. I hope so. There isn't enough independent, arty film in this town.

Chalk up another point for corporate monoculture.
Re:
Wow. You saw Beetlejuice there? How cool. That was one of my favorite movies when I was younger.
