fried pickles are good for you

Felt very Austin, and all of my long years. We went up the Threadgills at about 2, for chicken fried chicken, fried pickles, fried okra and other such delights of Southern cooking. Our waitress must have been on a lot of Thorazine; she was pretty damn perky. It took some of the edge off this thing called a hangover. Though I should feel worse, considering I consumed all that wine so fast.

We went on an unintentional meander through places full of shiny electronics, coveted technology, and entertainment. I picked up a second PS2 controller for Melynda, as an early birthday gift and so Gene and I could play Tekken 2. Mmm video games. Also bought Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust on DVD.

Oh yes! They are amazing. Have you never tasted of the divine goodness of fried pickles? And you live in New York!

Are they put in batter first? I love pickles, not sweet pickles, but I have been known to order a bowl of sour or dill pickles at the diner!

Yes. Battered and fried, and oh so delicious.
Pickles rock.

I was under the impression fried pickles were a northern thing, but that's only because the first place I encountered them was in this NY deli... hmm. An excellent question.

Mmm Southern food. Especially the kind grandmothers make.
