I found my postcard from Venezuela, a friend from the Daily Texan sent it to me. And the Van Gogh one arrived today. It's so lovely, thanks P.
Warhol and Cate's stories reminded me of my trip to France. I was sixteen at the time, and it was our first day in Paris. Standing in a crowded subway car, wearing my big black boots and my American jeans, I must have looked like an easy target. Since I had my backpack tucked against my chest, the guy instead decided to grope me from behind. It took me a second to realize what he was doing, and I went ballistic. I swung around, stomped my boots and started screaming at the top of my lungs. Not sure if I was cursing in English or French but I was furiously shaking my fist in the man's face as he backed up. Even though it was rush hour I managed to clear a good two foot buffer zone, no mean feat in the subway. It stayed there until I got off at my stop too. Hah!
Czech class was lovely today, and it just feels so good to be learning again. And if you see my Russian professor don't tell him I stole his picture to use on my journal, ok? He already teases me enough. Call me a Slovak, will you!
Supposedly it is going to snow, though I imagine even if it iced over again UT would still insist we come to class. I want to make a fire in my fireplace tonight.
