They had to put Willow down this morning. Her liver stopped working last night I guess, for her to be so sick this morning. I was the only one not there. I never seem to be there to say goodbye, for anyone. Not once.

My dad sounds so heartsick. She was the first dog he loved after we lost Shadow, oh so many years ago. I have neither the time or inclination to write down my family's history of dogs. Suffice to say, they have always been there and loved.

The angel closes her eyes.

I know Miss Natalie. You know these things well, I imagine, from your job at the vet. It had to be done. That however, does not make it hurt any less.
