I am not entirely shiftless

Hana wants me to come spend some time with her boys, a couple hours each day so she can get some work done. Apparently Christopher and Patrick have been rating other babysitters as "not quite Amanda." I like them. They're good eggs. I think I'll take them swimming, run around in the park and we can play video games when it gets too hot.

Last night I was talking with Gene about how unprepared and frightened I am of motherhood. It's different though, with other people's children. I've never been too comfortable with them, because I was such a weird kid and treated so differently by the adults around. Yet I honestly adore Hana's boys and it flatters me beyond measure that they want me to come over and play.

On my second shower of the day. I have a very shiny blue bra that I'm quite fond of now. Perhaps we shall go get some flowers for Hana, since we're taking over the blanket I had my mom make for her. I took a few pictures, but it's hard to judge the color, or see the immense amount of stitches that went into the pattern. It's of a crane, in the water and reeds, because I remember her telling us that cranes were signes of luck on the bus trundling across Moravia last year.

Babysitting reminds me of a strip in a Dilbert book of comic strips. Dogbert babysits and then goes on to convert the children to some eastern/indigenous religion. Entertaining to say the least.
