the beginning of the last month

Driving in the afternoon, blue sky with white puffed clouds, warm summershine feeling o the air, in Melynda's car listening to rock n' roll at volume. Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself in the side mirror, wearing sunglasses and my purple pajamas, with my hair still fluffy and tousled from sleep, and I think, damn how did I ever get to be that beautiful girl? It doesn't last long, but I'm thankful for the moment, and I wonder if this is what other people see sometimes.

We're driving to Houston tonight, and I'm going to sit in Melynda's backyard by the pool, and pretend for a little while that this is all there is to the world.

It may be somewhat vain, but I like to think that I am beautiful in my words. It's funny how you get so used to yourself, so tired of yourself, that it's surprising to turn around and find your reflection.

One of the great obsessions of my life is to know what other people are thinking and seeing. I think that's why I like Livejournal so much.

I think as long as we think ourselves as infinite and unlimited, then we can only get bored of ourselves if we're watching ourselves from the same perspective for too long. It just might take that otherwise innocent reflection to jar the memory of freedom again.

I'm obsessed by that need as well - if only to make sure that I continue to evolve and grow and each moment is as special and meaningful as the next.
