threeplusfire: (still me)

This morning involved one of the most unpleasant and humiliating doctor visits of my life. (Even worse than the year I had the serious kidney infection and the doctor said, "well it usually doesn't kill people" and blamed it on my deviant sex habits) Thankfully they decided not to do an ultrasound, that it wasn't cancer and I should just be kind to my stomach for some time.

This afternoon I wrote something that was unbelievably beautiful, wrenching and perfect. Then my computer sucked the file up into a void. No amount of searching has restored it to me, and I'm in despair. I cried tonight in Metro, even, for a moment of truth lost to the gods in the machine.

Drove down to Metro, for a card game and some quiet time. Gene went home early to reprogram the world, and I decided a short time later to go buy some hair dye. Dyeing my hair always cheers me up, and restores my self confidence. When I got to my car, I saw the dim glow of my head lights, and yes, my engine wouldn't turn. I went back to Metro and Kelly gave me a hazelnut soda to ease the pain of this ridiculous day. I had to call Gene, who gracefully came back to save the day. He didn't even make too much fun of me.

The sky was a blend of purples and violets, with layers of clouds moving about, and was lovely enough to make me smile a little. I bought gas, some sodas, the long sought after hair dye, and rented a pair of movies. I didn't realize Milos Forman directed Valmont, another version of Dangerous Liaisons. It has a very young Fairuza Balk. It's enchanting, I think. Also picked up Shadow of the Vampire. Going to drown my weary head in films.

Tomorrow, perhaps, I will clean the house some more and barebecue things with Gene.

Ya know, the best thing about Shadow of the Vampire is that the reconstructed scenes from Nosferatu look perfect, just perfect. The ability to recreate the look Munro achieved is simply stellar.

Oh yea, some damn fine acting, too.
