I am standing in your light

Have been placed in an internediate class, which is conducted entirely in Czech. Rather terrifying at the outset, but perhaps I understand more than I thought. I have more homework tonight than I had in a week with Hana and Keith. I hope this trend does not continue. Reviewed a lot of accusative case work today, and I have to write an essay about myself in addition to the grammar exercises. Blah. Though I did manage to straighten out my tuition problems, so I am safe for a month.

Made friends with a nice British fellow, David. He has recently been in Kazakhstan and Russia, so we have lots to talk about. It is a relief to speak english to someone, even as I try to improve my Czech. I am showing him around what I know of Brno, and we are trading drinking stories.

I continue to be mistaken for a European. It is hilarious, to me at least. I never thought I looked very European, especially in jeans.

Finally spoke with Melynda last night. I miss her terribly. It is hard not to have someone to share secrets with. I miss Gene, too. It was the first time I have spoken with him, and not ended up crying. I laughed when he started swearing at the number of televisions currently in our apartment. God I miss them both.

Already, I am sick to death of Czech food. I miss Thai food, pho, chips and salsa, Cheetos and iced tea. Why is there no ice in Europe? Of all the things to be backwards about! I could deal with so many other bizarre inconviences if there was only ice.

Well, at least the toliet paper does not have splinters, like it did during the seventies. My professor liked to tell horror stories about her childhood, and laugh at our reactions.

I begged my mom for Cheetos yesterday. I hope they make it.

So glad you found someone to talk to in English!!!

I miss chips and salsa too. I imagine the Mexican food in Brno is about as good as it is in Dublin, heh.

I got your postcard and you are a a SWEETUMS!!!

I have seen one place claiming to be a Mexican restaraunt. Still very skeptical, without even having been there. Maybe if I get desperate.

Oh I am glad your postcard made it over the ocean. Yay!
