Instead of Prague, they sent us to a brewery not far from Brno. the first written mention of it is from October 28th, 1530, though it is thought that the brewery was built even earlier. Five hundred years is a long time to improve upon beer. It is damn good. I tried the Granat, a dark lager, and the Kvasar, their special honey lager. There is something delightful about getting soused before lunchtime. Of course, I wrote lots of things down.

I briefly contemplated buying Gene and Melynda beer, but decided it would never make it back to America. It is too good not to drink. Maybe on my last day, I can pick up a bottle or two.

Feeling better today than yesterday. Perhaps because the sun has been out for an hour or so. I spoke to Melynda this morning for a short time. Need to write an essay on my ideal home this afternoon, before I go out to meet David and his boyfriend. Roman braved the floods to fly out, so I have hope that traveling next week will be alright.

Highlight of yesterday- finding a box with a hundred different packets of tea, instant Thai noodle soup and homemade chocolate chip cookies from Abbye. Delight!

Vím. But I wanted a copy in Czech, and it cost 100 crowns. Interestingly, some of the names have been changed in the translation.

I am fighting the urge to buy tons of books. I found a great store, near the ice cream place.
