Today.

My sister took off with Dimwit today. My mom came home, saw them, and they ran. She gave chase, but Dimwit sped off. He's driving without a license in a stolen car now, as that car that my sister has been driving is registered in my mom's name. I am fairly certain, given the scenes my mother witnessed at the house and the stoplight, that she went willingly. She ran off with a boy who has hit her, who has borrowed hundreds of dollars from her, who has court proceedings going on in multiple counties, who is the stupidest motherfucker I've ever met. Why? Why, for the love of god?

I am so damned angry and worried and just sad. Damn damn damn.

And all I could really do after spending an hour with my mother was go to work, and learn about certifications and market share and census data and various flood maps.

I'm so sad. I'm having flashbacks to the first week at PcO, when I had to take off a day to stay with my mom after my sister was arrested in 1999.

Work was fine, I learned much but now that I'm away I'm just kinda sick to my stomach. Sitting here talking to Melynda helps a bit.

Melynda and I have both advocated doing so. But there is some tricky business with my sister being eighteen, my mom having given my sister permission to drive the car and the possibility of my sister giving Dimwit permission, etc. I need to talk to Cate about all of it.

But in short, I hope so. Yes. (Nonavoidant communication!)

Sadly, we have touched an area where I have some experience. Growing up in backwater USA I had to deal with this more times than not - usually with friends of my parents.

Here's my take - and it's IMHO not solid " you should do this " , becasue I don't knwo all the players and I dont know all the history.

Your mother gave your sister permission to use the car. She is the owner and the only name on the paperwork of ownership, therefore she can say who can and can not drive it. While you sister could techincally say she gave permission, your mother should be able to say no - and tehrefore declare it stolen - weter that be stolen from her , or stolen from your sister. In the case of the latter , it's quite easy to prove that your sister was forced into giving permission ( ie or else she would be hit/abused/thrown into the street, etc ) and given dipshits record that should not be hard to prove.

Guilty or not of stealing the car, once the police are involved the other legal actions against him will light up like a xmas tree. They will most likely ask where he is, and if told will haul him away faster than you can say fresh hot doughnuts. After that, people can try to reason with your sister.

Hope for the best,
