Woke up with a headache of doom. But moving backwards.
Spent most of yesterday fleshing out ideas for my game with the wizard. Tried to explain his psyche to Melynda who was ultimately disturbed and it segued into a discussion of overall plot elements in the Harry Potter Series. Such as, where the hell is the rest of the Potter family and why didn't they take the poor boy? Or his mother's best friends, and do they have maids of honor at wizard weddings?
When we were leaving the apartment, two police cars were pulling up. Out on Mopac, there was an accident on both the north and south sides of the road that had obviously happened about ten mnutes before. (Which made me glad I had Melynda wait while I got dressed.) There were three cars crumpled in various states across two lanes on each side, and various people pulled over who must have witnessed it. I could see the lights of the fire truck and the ambulance coming closer.
Metro was absolutely packed. I'd forgotten Monday was a holiday in the school district, so there were far too many teenage children there. Along with an assortment of drag rats, which usually don't bother me unless they are stinky, high or begging for change and or cigarettes. I was filled with the horrible urge to smack that girl though, for her braying voice and obnoxiousness, and the way she just gaped at things. I don't really know why, but she drove me crazy.
We eventually muscled out another table, and played cards. Out of four games Melynda won three and I took the fourth. I did manage a fantastic last hand, going down and out while Terra and Melynda were still holding all their cards. Mwuhaha. Finally ran into James, who lost his job last week at the school thanks to someone bitchy 11th grade girl and her school board father who leaned on the principal. I guess Daddy didn't like his daughter being not so bright. It's a long story, involving stupidity, politics and James being sick. It's a terrible blow for him though, and he's sad. There's something profoundly wrong with the Texas education system, when they won't get rid of the dangerous teachers and they're sacking people like James who believe and want to work.''
Dreamed odd dreams, and I feel like I never want to move again.

You know, it's really nice to realize that I'm not the only one who feels that way. What happened to Harry's grandparents?

But even then, it seems that there would be at least SOME muggles who knew what was going on and could have taken care of him.
But then we wouldn't have had the books, but still!
you must not have read the books!
Re: you must not have read the books!
While I understand why they sent him to live with the Muggles, I just have to wonder where the rest of the family is, if they are still alive, why they have not contacted Harry since he went to Hogwarts, etc.
Re: you must not have read the books!
my somewhat sarcastic and sassy girlfriend had decided to randomly respond to your post before realizing that she was logged in as me.
sorry about any confusion.
