The strange thing about the ice starting to melt is the sound. It crackles and hums, and it is somewhat eerie to stand in the midst of the frozen trees and grasses. The world is strange.

We're watching the Lothlorien scene, and it is one of my favorite parts of the extended edition. Galadriel is one of my favorite characters because of her otherworldliness.

Driving home tonight will suck, as everything might just freeze again after melting. It's barely above the freezing point now.

Winter wouldn't be winter without the sounds. The sounds the snow makes when you walk on it? And the way the snow swallows your voice when you speak? And yes, the sound of melting ice.

Winter doesn't usually happen in Texas. At least not with ice and such. But it is very interesting, and pretty in its own way.

Heh, well not really. About once every five or six years, it ices up, and once in a generation it might snow. This is the first winter I've been out and about because I'm old enough to be driving and such.
